This is a totally bittersweet blog for me to write. Parker was the very first baby to enroll into my milestone session program called “Grow With Me”. I photographed her at 3-months and watched her roll over for the first time, I documented her at 6-months and watched her begin to crawl and stand, and now I’ve photographed her just days before her 1st birthday watching her run around my studio, smash into her first birthday cake and grow into a toddler right before my eyes! I’ve gotten a bit attached to this little lady. The Smith family is truly one of the sweetest families I have ever met. They are hilarious, down to earth and have just so much love for each other. If anyone deserves to be parents, Ashely and Shelby are definitely on that list! I am beyond thankful that they have chosen me to document all of her big moments!
For Parker’s 1-year session Ashley knew that she wanted a cake smash! She purchased the blue cake stand for the session when she was still pregnant with Parker! We used that as a starting point for the session and then I added in splashes of color. With Ashley’s preference for it to not be too girly, we kept it basic and fun! Parker wasn’t quite sure what to do with her cake, she examined it thoroughly before poking it a few times. We urged to her that it was yummy and for her to dig in, finally she put one finger in and tasted a bit of icing. After that it was a done deal, she smashed her hand in, picked up big bites of cake and smeared frosting on the ground. She was a bit silly and actually tried to clean up the cake and put it back on the stand a couple of times, but over all loved making a little mess! Enjoy the images of this sweet one year old!
