I cannot tell you all how happy I am! Last month during my Valentines mini sessions, I met a new family – the Smiths. After I photographed sweet 8 week old Parker, her mom Ashley and I got to talking and she mentioned wanting photos of her little one every few months to document her growth. At that very time I was working on putting together a program that covered exactly that! I hadn’t even announced the program yet and already someone wanted to be a part of it… it was like the stars aligned and fate got us where we needed to be. I emailed Ashley the next week and we set up a little ladies get together (miss Parker was there too of course!) I showed her the details of the plan and before long we were scheduling Parker’s first appointment.
This past weekend Ashley and Shelby brought their beautiful 3 month old Parker in to my studio. She was right on target hitting her big 3 month milestone of holding her head up, smiling away at us, and just all around being the perfect little model. She was a tad fussy here and there, but her parents are amazing at soothing her and getting her right back to her happy little self. By looking at them interact with her, you’d think they had 10 years of parenting experience, they’re awesome! We started with some in-studio shots of little P.
Since Ashley wasn’t able to get newborn photos done, she really wanted the “nakey baby” shots and a nice warm studio is the perfect place to do those. Ashley also mentioned that she liked a very natural look to the images, so we didn’t fuss with lots of props and clutter. The photos were mostly just Parker with a simple white backdrop and cuddly blankets.
A little ways into the session Parker started to get a little fussy and was squirming around a lot. We were all cooing at her and calling her by her little nicknames… Oh to be a fly on that wall, we probably all looked so crazy from Parkers point of view! She got more and more determined to move off of her belly and actually mustered up the strength to roll over for the first time! That’s definitely a first in my time as a photographer and I was so awestruck to be there for such a big moment in this family’s life.
After Parker’s 3 month “nakey baby” photos were done, we loaded up the gear and headed out to a nearby orange grove to photograph the whole family. By the end of it, Parker was ready for her afternoon nap, so we got some awesome sunny images of Ashley and Shelby. It was a great way to end a sunny Sunday in Sicily. Hows that for alliteration?
I’m so excited to have Parker booked in the Grow With Me plan. I’ll be photographing her again when she is 6 months and for her big first birthday this fall. Get ready to see a lot more of that sweet face and beautiful head of hair around the blog.
